Nurture Africa does amazing work for children in the area affected by HIV. Their mission is to "nurture the physical and emotional development of children in Uganda who are infected with or affected by HIV, by providing access to healthcare and education". We were given the opportunity to see first hand how they help these children.
The day we went on the home visits was one of the hardest days of my life. We met children living with grandparents because their parents and siblings had died from HIV. We met a boy with HIV who had just lost his sister to the disease. We met families in situations that were unbelievably sad, frightening and heartbreaking.
Nurture Africa work hard to give as many children as possible a chance to access education and medicine which could save their lives. There is a sponsorship programme available with Nurture Africa with the aim of getting as many of these children to school as possible.
